The seizure of books belonging to demonstrators following the “17+8 People’s Demands” protest in August 2025 sparked controversy in the public sphere. The books confiscated by authorities were considered part of the evidence of the riots, yet they were also viewed as symbols of freedom of thought and literacy. This incident has sparked a debate regarding the boundary between law enforcement and the protection of the right to knowledge. Online media play a crucial role in shaping public perception of this issue through varying reporting styles; Tempo.co and CNNIndonesia.com, as national media outlets, exhibit distinct editorial approaches in presenting this event. This study employs a comparative qualitative approach using Robert N. Entman framing analysis model to examine five Tempo.co news articles from September 23, 2025, to October 2, 2025, and five CNNIndonesia.com news articles from September 19 to 27, 2025, supplemented by in-depth interviews with readers. The results indicate that Tempo.co frames the book seizure as an issue of freedom of thought and literacy, whereas CNNIndonesia.com places greater emphasis on legal and security aspects. These framing differences influence how readers understand the event. This study concludes that the media plays a strategic role in shaping public perception regarding issues of freedom of expression and the actions of state authorities within a democratic context.

The development of digital payment systems using the Indonesian Standard Quick Response Code (QRIS) calls for improved digital literacy, particularly among college students. One of the efforts undertaken is through event-based outreach activities, such as the UGJ TANCAP QRIS event organized by the Indonesian New Generation (GENBI) chapter at Swadaya Gunung Jati University (UGJ) in Cirebon. This study aims to analyze the application of communication management in organizing the event and its impact on improving students’ digital payment system literacy. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive mode. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with GENBI executives, the organizing committee, and event participants, as well as supporting documentation. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis. The results indicate that communication management in the UGJ TANCAP QRIS event was implemented through four main stages: planning, organizing, execution, and evaluation of communication. Clear message planning, an organized communication structure, a communicative and interactive communication style, and post-event evaluation positively contributed to the effectiveness of information delivery. The research findings also indicate an increase in students’ understanding and interest in the use of QRIS after participating in the activity. This study concludes that well-planned and coordinated communication management plays a crucial role in supporting the success of digital payment system outreach activities within the university environment.

The rapid development of information technology has changed the patterns of communication among teenagers in the digital space and given rise to new forms of juvenile delinquency, one of which is related to the dissemination of pornographic content. This social phenomenon has led to the creation of the song “Kenakalan Remaja di Era Informatika” by Efek Rumah Kaca, which represents social criticism of the ethical crisis among teenagers in their use of digital technology. This study aims to analyze how text structure, social cognition, and social context construct social criticism discourse in the song's lyrics, as well as to identify the forms of criticism conveyed. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with Teun A. Van Djik's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) model. Data was obtained through song lyric analysis and interviews with informants selected purposively. The results show that this song builds social criticism through the representation of youth behavior in the digital realm, constructed as a form of ethical deviation, particularly in digital pornography. Through the relationship between the text structure, the social cognition of the songwriter, and the social context of the time, this song functions not only as a musical work but also as a discourse of social criticism that reflects the reality and concerns of society regarding the morality of adolescents in the digital space.
